Yesterday was a very bittersweet day.
Not only did I leave my job at the library, but I also had my leaving dinner with friends.
I started my job at the library at the beginning of 2012 as a children’s library shelver and have loved every minute of it. It was just a few hours a week and quite a simple, but fulfilling job. It gave me a lot of time to think and just be with my thoughts, so in a way, it was my little bit of R&R for the week, while being paid.
I’m hoping that when I’ll get back, a position will pop up soon enough so I can go back, because I’ve loved working there and everyone is so lovely.
In the evening, the leaving dinner was a combination of mine and Moana’s. We have similar friend groups because we went to the same primary and high school, so it worked out really well! We went to a great place down at the newly developed Wynyard Quarter in Auckland’s CBD called Jack Tar which had a huge variety of delicious food!
At first glance, the prices seem slightly steeper than your average meal, but for the portion sizes (half of us couldn’t even finish it all,) it is definitely worth it! Plus it was delicious! I had a Thai Beef Salad which was amazing.
Afterwards a few of us went out to town for a few drinks and all-in-all it was a really lovely night and it was so lovely to see a whole lot of people that I don’t get to see enough of because of all our busy lives, and all of usdoing a whole lot of different things.
2 days and 13 hours to go!
