Food: A variety of yummy tapas/ Consumed: Mexico Food & Liquor, Britomart, Auckland / Date: 17 April 2015.
For some reason I had never been to the much talked about, Mexico Food & Liquor. So, after my friend said she felt like having Mexican, I thought it would be the perfect time to finally check out what all the fuss was about.
As soon as we sat down, we both commented on how awesome the decor was. The place has a dim, but welcoming lighting and the walls are jam-packed with posters and photographs and the tables had cute atmospheric candles.
We ordered one soft taco each, I had the smoky beef arrachera soft taco while my friend Amber opted for the chef’s special pan-fried fish taco. We then shared a bowl of plantain chips (with magic powder, coriander and fennel sofrito) and a bowl of guacamole (with pork crackling and totopos).
We were slightly unsure about whether we should’ve ordered more, as the waitress kept telling us that the tacos were very small. In the end we decided it was good we hadn’t ordered anything more, because we weren’t able to finish the snacks in the end! While the tacos are quite small, both of us found them quite filling.
Anyone else been to Mexico Food and Liquor and have a favourite dish? Drop a comment below, I’d love to know!
