Throwback Thursday: Best Trip of My Life

Yesterday marked the date that I left New Zealand to go on my own 7 month adventure armed with two suitcases, a camera and one of my best friends.

It is by far the best experience I’ve had in my life so far, so thanks to some of the photos I posted on Instagram, I thought I’d share a timeline of some of my highlights (this is going to be hard,) of the trip below:

This was taken as I farewelled my family goodbye at the departure gate. There were lots of tears, but as soon as I was through those gates I was a ball of excitement!

PARIS June and July 2014:

Moana and I were shown around Paris by a wonderful family friend. We did a lot of touristy things and few not so touristy things. I love Paris, I visited it quite a few times during my trip.

GERMANY July 2014:

Some down-time on the plane to Germany really made me reflect and appreciate how lucky I was to be having such an amazing experience.

NICE July 2014:

Hi Nice. You're pretty nice.

The beach had never looked so lovely. My trip to Nice and Monaco was a dream, filled with beautiful hot weather and lots of bike rides along the Promenade. It was also my last time with Moana before we parted ways.

LIMOGES August-September 2014:

My two months with some of my extended family in a small village just out of Limoges was lovely. I don’t get to see them very often and I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed living on a farm away from the hustle and bustle of the city and away from the internet and phone service.

CARDIFF September 2014:

And then began the best university experience of my life. My flat became my second family. These photos were taken just a week after knowing one another and already we were as tight as peas in a pod.

LONDON October 2014:

My quick trip to London was action-packed, thanks to my fellow kiwi flatmate being the best tour-guide.

CARDIFF November 2014:

House 6 trip to the rugby โค๏ธ

We went on a house trip to the rugby and it was like being at home in NZ with all the rugby-mad people. I loved it!

CARDIFF December 2014:

And we had a glorious early Christmas as a flat with a home cooked Christmas dinner. Christmas crackers and all!

Such an amazing experience getting to see the Stonehenge and the Roman Baths in Bath. Brighton was very wet and windy though.

CHRISTMAS in France:

Such a special experience to spend Christmas with my family in France. It was also my first winter Christmas ever!

Visited Bo/Jack today ๐Ÿ‘ฝ๐Ÿ‘ฝ

A post shared by Anya Truong-George (@anya_linh) on

After celebrating New Years Eve in London, it was back home to Cardiff where I finally made it to the Doctor Who experience and posed with *SPOILER ALERT* The Face of Bo aka Captain Jack.

Saying goodbye to the amazing friends I’d made and lived and partied with was one of the saddest things I’ve had to do. I was sobbing as I left the flat.

HONG KONG January 2015:

My last stopover before I arrived home.

So that was my walk down memory lane, hope you enjoyed it. I have additional photos on my Instagram but also wrote proper blog posts and filmed vlogs of my Europe Trip HERE and my Study Abroad Trip HERE.

Are there any particular trips that are really close to your heart? Let me know below, I’d love to hear about them!
