New Year, same me?

It’s weird how quickly you can get stuck into a routine and not realise how fast time is passing you by. It’s absolutely mental that it’s been six months since I arrived back into the country, four months since I’ve started my first full time job and now already into the first week of 2017. In all honesty, I never thought I would ever get so attached to my time at Disney World. Applying for the program was a kind of last minute, “we’ll see how it goes” decision and while I loved Disney as much as the next person, I was definitely not Disney-crazy and was initially nervous that I would be out of place because of this. But the experience, the people I met, the friends I made and yes, even the tiring work days are days I wish I could go back to every day. And I definitely feel like I’ve become one of those people who always begins sentences with “When I was at Disney…” I cringe, I cringe. I’m still loving my …

This month has been a pretty huge month for me. Well in truth, this last week has been a huge week for me. Why? Because I have my first full-time job y’all. Despite feeling that pull to go back to the USA still, the past month I’ve almost accepted that New Zealand is where I’ll be for a bit longer. But what definitely set that all into stone was getting an editorial assistant role at New Zealand Weddings Magazine. I was absolutely ecstatic when I found out! It’s my first full time and media-related job and I honestly couldn’t be more excited or grateful. There’s a lot to learn, but that’s what makes it so exciting. So far the first week has been absolutely amazing. My first week coincided with New Zealand Fashion Week and NZ Weddings holds two fashion shows as part of it, so I got to experience the full excitement and craziness that accompanies one of the busiest times of the year for the publication. So yes, while I’d still love to …

Oh my, the first currently of the year- only 7 months in, but better late than never, non? This month has mostly involved settling back into life in Auckland. I’m not going to lie, it’s tough. Like, very, very tough. Every day I’ve been pining for my life back at Disney and in the States. I’ve just had to keep telling myself that it was the best thing to do, what with the student loan I need to pay off and me wanting to actually start my journalism/ media career, neither of which I would be able to achieve at Disney. I guess the hardest thing is that in this situation I did have the opportunity to extend if I’d wanted to. But because of the timing of when they asked, I totally thought I’d be fine leaving Disney and coming home. Fast forward to two weeks before I was set to leave Orlando and man was I wrong! But I guess that’s life and I just have to keep telling myself that things happen …

This month marked the end of an era for me– graduating university and finishing my schooling (for now). Bachelor of Communication Studies majoring in journalism. Holla! Walking down the main street in Auckland with all my fellow classmates, and then seeing everyone graduate was such an awesome experience and one that I’ll never forget! A bit weird being surrounded by people taking photos of you while you walk down the street though, I have to admit. In other news I’ve been working at Lush a lot, being super busy with the Christmas rush and saving as much as I can for the USA (21 days until I leave NZ, it hasn’t quite sunk in yet). I had a super relaxing Christmas with good food, drink and tunes with some of my close family which was really lovely. I’ve been quite slack lately with my blogging and haven’t really done any blogworthy things if I’m honest, but rest assured you’ll be bombarded with lots of blogs posts (and hopefully vlogs) very very soon. Meanwhile, here’s a …

I have now officially finished university forever (or for now anyway) and I’m pretty lost about what to do with myself actually. It’s pretty strange realising that I have officially finished my institutional education and am free to do whatever I like, whenever I like! With all these changes I thought it was a good time to do this month’s ‘Currently’. This also means my blog posts will start getting more frequent again with the lead up to my next adventure in the USA! CURRENTLY: Reading: Cannot wait to start some good summer reads! I have a list on Goodreads that I can’t wait to crack into! Summer reading on the beach? Sounds perfect. Watching: As well as having some of my favourite shows back (HTGAWM is so hella good right now!) I’ve also started Chicago Fire which I’m enjoying a lot. Hello Taylor Kinney. Listening to: Still loving the Rudimental album and as much as I hate to admit it I’m loving all of JB‘s new songs. Also “Hello“! Dreaming of: Disney World! It is coming up so quickly! Planning: My …

Yes, I’ve skipped a month, but with a crazy-load of uni work, can you blame me? Just three more weeks until I am done, done, done with university… forever (or until I decide to study more). Anyhoo, here’s what I’ve been up to so far during the month of October. CURRENTLY: Reading: Lots and lots of lifestyle articles online, sometimes uni is fun. Watching: Everything is back! TVD, The Flash, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who, OUAT, HTGAWM and most likely missed a few in my excitement.  Listening to: I’m digging the new Rudimental album so much. “Rumour Mill” and “Treading Water” have to be a couple of my absolute faves though. TUNES. Dreaming of: THREE WEEKS UNTIL SUMMER HOLIDAYS! Planning: My trip to Walt Disney World and generally just sorting my post-uni life out. Making: Flight plans, visa plans, hotel plans and new Disney friends. Enjoying:  The last few weeks of uni with my friends, even if the workload is horrible.  Eating:  At this very moment I’m chomping down on some Watermelon Sour Patch Kids. Excited for: I know this is probably getting old, …

August seemed like such a long month thanks to me having 101 things to do, but the countdown is on until I can finally graduate! Here’s what I got up to last month. This month I’m back at uni for MY LAST SEMESTER EVER. It’s pretty crazy and I’m kind of at the point where I just want it all to be over already! So what do I have planned for after I graduate? I have a couple of things in the works, none of which have been confirmed yet and the first won’t be confirmed until late-August. You guys might remember my 2016 wish-list that included going over to the US… Let that be a clue of what my plans might be, but they could be happening much sooner/in a different way than I had ever expected! In the meantime, catch up on what I got up to last month. CURRENTLY: Reading: Over the past month I’ve been reading a lot of Woman’s Day because of my internship there, but I’m now back to the academic readings for uni assignments. Watching: Suits! It was recommended to me by quite a lot of people and I’m so glad I started it, because I love it! Listening to: I’m sure you roll your eyes …

Here we are! Another month draws to a close and we are officially half way through the year! This month made me very nostalgic as it marked the month I left New Zealand one year ago for my big trip abroad with one of my best friends Moana! I wrote a blog post about my trip highlights: “Throwback Thursday: Best Trip of my Life“. Anyway, here’s what I have been up to this month: CURRENTLY: Reading: A lot of woman’s magazines. I’ve just starting an internship at one of NZ’s top woman’s magazines, Woman’s Day. Watching: Orange is the New Black. I don’t know why I didn’t start this sooner Listening to: I know I go on about Years and Years all the time. But I love, love, love “Shine” and “Foundation” at the moment. Dreaming of: The day I will work for a magazine that I love. Planning: A big trip which is still kind of under wraps at the moment. Keep an eye out for updates in the next couple of months. Making: New connections thanks to my internship (I …

Burnt Out, But…One Week Until Wellington!

It’s been a while, four months actually, since I’ve been on a plane, but in exactly one week’s time I’ll be on another big mechanical bird flying out of Auckland to visit New Zealand’s capital, Wellington. It might not be a long-haul flight to tackle an adventure on the other side of the world, but it’s still something I am very very excited about because this has been one hell of a semester at uni. Uni burn-out season has arrived at my doorstep. It’s that time of the semester when the semester is drawing to a close and everyone has all their deadlines at one time and are working so furiously at all hours of the day and night that the body just can’t cope and konks out. Probably more accurately known as disorganisation and bad time management. Exhibit A: ME – Currently curled up in bed with a sore throat and the sniffles, sipping on a hot cup water with lemon and honey. This is what uni does to you people. (This is slightly …
